Role Summary

The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for developing a wide array of partner communications. This includes drafting monthly newsletters, product communications, event materials, and other resources intended to help inform partners’ work and enable our partner community to become more effective each election cycle. This person will work collaboratively with the Communications Team to develop tailored communications for a variety of key audiences, and they will work cross-functionally to help inform and inspire external stakeholders. The Senior Communications Manager will support the creation and distribution of a variety of partner materials, and serve as a resource for the development of internal communications. The Senior Communications Manager will need excellent communications and interpersonal skills. This position is full time and will report to the Vice President of Communications.

What You’ll Do

Content Development

  • Support the development of multi-faceted content and communications strategies to effectively share Murmuration’s mission, vision, and goals with partners and other key external audiences.
  • Help build out our differentiated communications strategies and adapt content for different partner audiences.
  • Develop informative and inspiring partner communications, including emails, newsletters, event materials and scripts, blogs, and other communications collateral.
  • Manage the development and production of the m{update, a regular email communication with partners that serves as a tool to share our insights and offerings to help partners become more effective.
  • Manage our partner content platform, m{hq, and determine ways to increase adoption.
  • Contribute to the development and management of the editorial calendar.
  • Contribute to a repository of partner impact stories for use in other internal and external communications.

Network/Industry Pulse

  • Participate in partner pods to gain a better understanding of their needs and ways communications can advance their work.
  • Synthesize partner feedback and share with relevant internal stakeholders to enable the Communications Team and other cross-functional teams across the organization to have a consistent pulse on partner needs, as well as identify gaps in partner knowledge or Murmuration offerings.
  • Stay abreast of political and technology policies that could impact our partners’ work and communicate technology and platform updates to partners and staff.
  • Monitor news related to our partners’ work and develop ideas to share across the organization to influence our content, research, and product offerings.

Team Support

  • Track and report on various communications metrics to help determine engagement over time.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance communications internally and externally.
  • Serve as a resource for any communications team projects, as needed.

Requirements

What You Should Have

  • An educational background and/or experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field;
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience;
  • Strong written communication skills with a keen understanding of how to write to and connect with different audiences;
  • Strategic and creative thinking with strong project, time, and relationship management skills;
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and
  • A can-do attitude and desire to support others.

What You Could Have

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, political science, or other related field;
  • Political experience; and/or
  • Technology or product experience.

Benefits

Location, Compensation, and Benefits

The Senior Communications Manager is a full-time, salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package. It is based anywhere in the U.S. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 and is commensurate with experience.
