Role summary

We are seeking a mission-driven, growth-oriented Email Marketing Manager to help us grow our community of energy savers, improve the value of our product for each member, and help bring our energy-saving technology to the homes of millions. As a member of our Marketing team you will own our most important member communications channel, telling the OhmConnect story through your messages, and strategizing the best way to improve performance through our campaigns and automations.

Your main responsibilities will include executing on our overall email strategy, encompassing marketing emails, lifecycle-based trigger emails, member onboarding journey and transactional messages. You’ll also support internal stakeholders in executing new end-to-end email campaigns from start to finish, help manage our email marketing platform, analyze automation and campaign performance, and help define our member segmentation strategy.

We are looking for someone who can bring our energy-saving platform to life by constantly iterating on the member communication journey. You’ll be expected to generate emails with engaging copy and design, and successfully operate within cross functional workstreams. You’ll own our communications calendar, email segmentation, and member targeting strategies. As someone who always keeps a member-first mindset, you understand that when you send messages is just as important as what it says.

What you will do
  • Own end-to-end strategy for individual email campaigns including definition, design, segmentation, execution, testing & analysis – and advocate for the long-term strategic vision of our email program
  • Design multi-stage marketing automation workflows to deliver targeted communications to members at key moments in the customer lifecycle
  • Evolve our audience segmentation and execution strategy to connect the right member with the right call-to-action at the right time
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of our email marketing platform including list management, template creation, workflow design, customer data profiles, and reporting
  • Organize, plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines through process improvements and communication practices
  • Craft and edit message copy and create best-in-class email content and design, guided by industry best practices and our company’s brand identity
  • Exhibit strong analytical mindset and an ability to curate dashboards for monitoring campaign performance, surfacing engagement trends, and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Help develop the strategy for our email communications in collaboration with various internal teams to increase customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and growth
  • Own & manage our communications calendar – to keep organizational stakeholders aligned on what messages are being sent, when they're being sent and to what members.

Requirements

  • 3 years experience in digital and/or email marketing and marketing automation for a B2C company
  • Experience with the HubSpot (or similar i.e. Marketo, ActiveCampaign, etc.) email marketing platform and knowledge of building drip and nurture email programs
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing creative, high impact email campaigns, specifically onboarding/lifecycle nurture programs
  • Excellent internal communications and organizational skills -- able to keep many stakeholders updated and many projects going at the same time
  • Strong subject matter expertise in both the creative and technical aspects of email marketing, including: responsive HTML, CSS, deliverability, reputation management, CAN-SPAM, TCPA compliance, and email best practices
  • Experience working collaboratively and cross functionally with marketing, product, design, and engineering teams
  • Demonstrable analytical and results-oriented mentality, including experience with data analysis, a/b testing, and audience segmentation strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Flexible “can-do” attitude – as a startup we’re constantly evolving as we learn and grow. Being able to thrive in ambiguity is a must.
